My background combines art, education and English language teaching. Alongside my formal qualifications, eight years working within a commercial language school gave me extensive practical ELT training and classroom experience.
That combination now informs my independent work at Blue Noun, where I bring together language teaching, coaching, creativity and experiential learning.

Blue Noun offers different kinds of English support because not everyone needs another conventional English course.
Many adults who come to Blue Noun have already spent years learning English. They have studied grammar, collected vocabulary, completed exercises and worked through coursebooks — often successfully.
But language development needs more than input.
At Blue Noun, I think about English through Four Strands: learning, practising, using and experiencing the language. Many long-term learners have invested heavily in learning — particularly grammar and vocabulary — without having anything like the same amount of time to practise, use and experience their English.
When those strands become unbalanced, it is easy to conclude “I need more English” when what you may actually need is to do something different with the English you already have.
Our Review & Revive online offer helps you work out where you are now. We look at your English-learning history, your Four Strands, what you need English for and what you have already tried, then identify a useful next step. That might be teaching, coaching, pronunciation work, more speaking opportunities, immersion — or something else entirely.
For some people, the next step is more substantial: breaking old language-learning habits by changing the conditions completely.
Blue Noun’s English immersion holidays in Scotland create those different conditions. English moves out of the conventional classroom and into real life: conversation, culture, activities, workshops, meals, journeys and everyday encounters.
