I'm a British, UK-based English language tutor with over 25 years' teaching experience.

I believe that real-life topics, tasks and situations can help you to develop your English quickly and naturally. Grammar and rules are important, but they should not be the main focus. Most importantly, the English you learn should be the English that you really need in YOUR life!

I also believe that you should read, listen and USE your English as often as you can. This means preparing at home alongside speaking and writing to build confidence and accuracy.

If you feel like your English is “OK”, but not really improving, I can help you.

I will guide your learning and encourage you to start using your English with more confidence, range and accuracy.

PREPARE TO SPEAK! English for Real Situations (6 week Group Course)

This group course improves your English through practical everyday topics and real life situations.

Every 2 weeks, you prepare for a new topic (e.g. Health). I send you links to reading and listening activities. You study at home to build language and vocabulary around that topic. I also give you practical speaking tasks to work on.

At the end of each week, you practise your English speaking in our 75-minute online conversation group (max 4-10 learners). Talk to me, listen to other learners, ask questions and learn different ways to express what you want to say. Then I write up new vocabulary from each class and share it with you.

How this course works:
1. We have a 30 minute chat, and you tell me your English learning needs, interests and goals. This chat is free – you can book a chat with me on the link below.
2. If you join the 6-week course, I create an online Google Classroom for you. You will also get a short speaking progress report showing weak areas you need to develop.
3. I tell you the first English speaking topic, then I send you links to videos, audio, reading texts and activities. You start doing these at home. You can email me to ask for help or to ask questions.
4. I give you some real life speaking tasks or challenges to practise (A2/B1 example: “Describe an unusual food that you love, and convince me to try it!”)
5. You come to our Friday online group conversation class, practise your topic with me, get feedback and learn new vocabulary. (each session is 75 minutes long, but you can come and go when you want). I share class notes and vocabulary on the Google Classroom after every speaking session.

1:1 COACHING / 1:1 CUSTOM COURSES (Individual sessions for personal 1 on 1 feedback and support)

These are dedicated private support sessions to help you develop a specific area of your English (e,g, pronunciation, presentations (business or academic), writing polite emails, etc.

I can also build short personalised courses to provide structured English support for your needs over several sessions.
